As a broadcast journalist, Charlie has worked for major networks including BBC and Sky, covering global events from the Olympic and Paralympic Games and FIFA World Cup’s to exclusive in-depth interviews of superstars and world leaders. She made history in the early days of her career becoming the first woman to present football in Asia and later the first female globally to anchor a Heavyweight World Title Fight and present the sport of boxing. 

Charlie is an exemplary storyteller whether it's covering live sport and news, or bringing a documentary to life with her detailed journalism and unrivalled access. She has a unique skill of creating safety and trust with her interviewees. 

In October 2021, the powerful documentary which Charlie conceived, produced, and presented, “Nowhere to Run: Abused by our coach”, was broadcast on the BBC. It went viral on social media, gained unanimous critical acclaim in the Press, and led to a change in UK law, and in national and international policy.

Charlie was an expert and co-producer on NTA nominated documentary Home Truths broadcast on the BBC, as well as featuring in the film. Charlie wrote and hosted her ARIAS award winning audio documentary special into sport’s link to brain disease - she explores the link between dementia and football. 

Charlie launched Lionsgate Sound in 2022, for Entertainment studio Lionsgate in the US, with a slate of award winning podcasts she created including “Surviving El Chapo: The Twins Who Brought Down A Drug Lord” (host/journalist, executive producer and writer), a true crime series she co-hosted with 50 Cent having gained exclusive access to the Flores Twins, “Died and Survived” (host/journalist, executive producer and writer) chronicling stories of near death experiences, including Charlie’s personal encounter with death. Charlie won the New York Radio Awards and Communicator awards for excellence in her storytelling. She created the viral hit “Scamanda” (host/journalist, executive producer and writer) which dominated the top of the charts almost immediately, globally, retaining no 1 spot in 6 countries including the US, Canada, the UK and Australia, for the duration of the series.

Charlie is the creator and host of critically acclaimed podcast ‘’Undiscussable’’ (host/journalist, executive producer and writer), an investigative series into domestic abuse that gives a challenging rethinking of the issues. During the pandemic Charlie made an 8 part special of “Undiscussable” which was broadcast live on national TalkRadio in the UK.

Charlie writes about wider social issues including mental health and culture, is a regular contributor to numerous newspapers including The Telegraph, The Times and BBC Sport. She is a regular on BBC 5Live having hosted weekend breakfast for 2 years, co-hosted a weekly football show with Adrian Chiles and midnight mixtape with Colin Murray.

Charlie started her broadcast career as sports and news journalist. She has hosted major sporting events including the Olympics, World Cup’s, Premier and Champions League football as well as La Liga, Formula One, Wimbledon, Speedway Grand Prix, and she made her way onto the all-male boxing broadcast team where she became the first woman globally to host a live heavyweight world title fight. Charlie was a main staple as an anchor on Sky Sports News and Sky News. Whilst at Sky she made documentaries including ‘Sport Changing Lives’ and ‘Marathon Running’ both inspired by her own passion.

Charlie is known for her interviewing skills always looking to go beyond the name to understand the person, she has interviewed the likes of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone as Europe exclusives, and people ranging from cross-party politicians to victims of domestic abuse, sport stars about mental health and superstars like David Beckham and Lewis Hamilton.

Charlie originally started her broadcast career in sport and by the time she was 23 years old, she became the first female in Asia to present live football, hosting back to back Premier League games. Moving back to the UK at 25, she worked as a pit lane reporter for ITV’s Formula 1 and anchored GP2 coverage, broadcast journalist BBC Look East and reported for BBC’s Football Focus.

She then spent 6 years at Sky, presenting Sky Sports News and live events including Champions League, Wimbledon and Speedway, and made her way onto the all-male boxing broadcast team. She achieved a world first in 2015 where she became the first woman globally to host a live heavyweight world title fight.

Charlie is known for her interviewing skills always looking to go beyond the name to understand the person, she has interviewed the likes of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone as Europe exclusives, and people ranging from cross-party politicians ahead of the UK general election to victims of domestic abuse, sport stars about mental health and superstars like David Beckham and Lewis Hamilton.

With her advocacy and advisory roles she regularly appears on BBC's Question Time Extra Time, C4 news, and BBC Breakfast. She has also appeared regularly on ITV daytime shows Good Morning Britain and This Morning, where she fronted a special feature inside a women's refuge. Charlie spent time in Uganda filming on the border of the DRC making a documentary as part of a commonwealth campaign highlighting health care and the fight against Malaria.

Charlie was selected to be a Team GB ambassador for the 2016 Olympics Games in Rio campaign. She was one of the 12 Great Briton's.

Written Work

As well as broadcast, Charlie has written numerous columns for the likes of the BBC Sport, Huffington Post, The Independent, The Telegraph, Metro and AT&T/DIRECTV.

Her love of writing comes from childhood, where she went on to pursue a degree in Language and Linguistics and trained as a broadcast journalist with the BBC.
